NCC Arrests 5 Suspected Pirates, Confiscated N5 Million Worth Optical Disc

Five suspected pirates were arrested with several units of optical disc works worth N5 Million (N5, 000,000.00) by officers of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) during an enforcement operation carried out on July 15, 2015.

Following an earlier surveillance, Copyright Inspectors backed by a contingent of armed Policemen impounded several copies of suspected infringing video and musical CDs, DVDs and VCDs including “October 1 by Kunle Afolayan” from Market and Jankwa Raods at Masaka Market Karu L.G.A. Nasarawa State.

The Director of Enforcement of the Commission, Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this in a report in Abuja, gave the names of those arrested as Nnennaya Micheal, John Agbada, Bright Francis, Kenny Alonge and Emeka Nwani.

Mr. Amodu explained that investigation has since commenced with view to prosecuting the arrested suspects.He further stressed the Commission’s zero tolerance policy against pirates, adding that there will be no hiding place for pirates and their collaborators across the nation.
