Copyright Commission Arrests 4, Impounds N4 Million Worth Optical Discs

Four suspected pirates were arrested and suspected pirated Musical and Film works estimated at about Four Million Naira (N4, 000, 000) were confiscated by Officers of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) during an enforcement exercise carried out July 30, 2015.

Officers of the Commission backed by armed mobile policemen raided some shops suspected to be selling pirated optical discs within the Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State.

The shops raided are: Ola-Iya films and records international which is located at No. 12 Maraba shopping complex, Ilorin; Olajuwon music and films located at shop 9 East shopping complex, Maraba Ilorin located at New Market road, Wisdom Ventures which is located at shop 4 opposite UBA Bank Muritala road, Ilorin; Just CD opposite UBA Bank Muritala road, Ilorin.

Director, Enforcement Department, Mr Augustine Amodu disclosed this in a report released in Abuja. He noted that further investigation into the incident is ongoing with a view to prosecuting the suspects and their accomplices.
